Minister: Russian 4G equipment to appear in next 2–3 years

MOSCOW, Jun 7 (PRIME) -- Russian equipment for 4G will appear in two to three years, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev said on Tuesday.

“We have projects on localization of equipment, chiefly 4G, Yadro has announced them,” Shadayev said.

Local developer and computing systems maker Yadro started building the main phase of a plant in the city of Dubna, in the Moscow Region, in December 2021 to manufacture radio electronic products Yadro Fab Dubna. The facility will produce servers, data storage systems, network and telecom equipment, among others.

Shadayev said that the matter with the 5G frequencies is not settled fully. “Our motto is that it is better 4G for all than 5G for some,” Shadayev said.

He said that the ministry submitted a bill to classify data processing centers as connection facilities that will help them use electricity under beneficial terms. “It is a significant part of expenses of data processing centers. We hope the bill would be approved,” Shadayev said.
